Places I've visited |Kannyakumari| and surrounding..

Kannyakumari,Thiruchendhur, Rameswaram,Dhanushkodi Kannyakumari:
A popular tourist destination in India, it is famous for its unique ocean sunrise, sunset and moonrise, the 133 feet Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial off the coast, and as a pilgrimage centre.[1] Lying at the tip of peninsular India, it is the confluence of the Arabian sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.[2] It has a coastal line of 71.5 km stretched on the three sides[3] The town is situated 20 km south of Nagercoil, the headquarters of Kanyakumari District, and about 90 km south of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. On the shores of the town is a temple dedicated to Goddess Kanyakumari (the virgin Goddess), after which the town is named.[4] Kanyakumari has been a city since the Sangam period and has been referred to in old Tamil literature and in the accounts of Marco Polo and Ptolemy. Rameshwaram
The Pamban Bridge also has a road bridge that was constructed parallel to the original rail bridge back in 1988. It connects National Highway 49 with the island of Rameshwaram. You can take the Rameshwaram Express and the Chennai Express if you wish to pore over the wonder that this bridge is. It is built over the mighty Bay of Bengal; more accurately, it is built over the Palk Strait. The construction is also a very challenging one because it is built on the second most corrosive environment in the world, after Florida. It is also a place that is infamous for cyclones. About Rameshwaram is not only beautiful but also has a religious significance. Located close to Sri Lanka, it is known as the place where Lord Rama built a bridge to Sri Lanka in order to rescue Sita. It also is one of the Char Dhams associated with Lord Vishnu; hence you can well imagine the number of tourists it gets each year. Dhanushkodi Last road of India
Dhanushkodi is an abandoned town at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island of the state of Tamil Nadu in India.[1] It is south-east of Pamban and is about 24 kilometres (15 mi) west of Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. The town was destroyed during the 1964 Rameswaram cyclone and remains uninhabited in the aftermath. The area around Ramehswaram is prone to high-intensity geomorphic activity. A scientific study conducted by the Geological Survey of India indicated that the southern part of Dhanushkodi facing the Gulf of Mannar sank by almost 5 metres (16 ft) in 1948 and 1949, due to vertical tectonic movement of land parallel to the coastline. As a result of this, a patch of land of about 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) in width, stretching 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) from north to south, submerged under the sea.[10] On 17 December 1964, a depression formed at 5°N 93°E in the South Andaman Sea. On 19 December, it intensified into a cyclonic storm. After 21 December 1964, it moved westwards, almost in a straight line, at the rate of 400 to 550 kilometres (250 to 340 mi) per day. On 22 December, it crossed Vavunia in Sri Lanka and made landfall at Dhanushkodi on the night of 22–23 December 1964. Estimated wind velocity was 280 kilometres per hour (170 mph) and tidal waves were 7 metres (23 ft) high.[11] Thiruchendhur
Thiruchendur Murugan temple is known as the second Arupadai Veedu of Lord Muruga. Lord Muruga won the battle with the asura, Surapadma and worshipped Lord Shiva in this sacred place. The temple is situated along the shores of the Bay of Bengal.Thiruchendur Temple Tiruchendur Temple Thiruchendur Temple Tiruchendur Temple Thiruchendur Temple Normally, the Raja Gopuram will be in the eastern side of temples in Tamil Nadu.
